The condensed version is this— rumours were becoming reality, which led to fighting Hitler in the ruins of an alien spaceship right before the world ended, killing most of the people with it. It was all the plot of a being called Nyarlathotep, but my friends and I were given a chance to fix everything if we gave up our memories of our friendship. We all agreed. I broke my promise, which caused everything to start happening in the new world we'd created. Along with a few other people, I managed to stop Nyarlathotep again... but he's unkillable, so the only way to keep everything from happening again and again was for me to go back to that old, mostly-dead world.
