...my favorite genre of literature is... psychological horror.
I just love it. And the more grotesque it is, the better. I love how it gives the author an excuse to go completely wild with their style... point of view shifts, first person to third person shifts, stream of consciousness, third person omniscient narrative, first person, stodgy, clinical descriptions, emotional, heart-wrenching descriptions, sexual elements... all of it is fair game in the horror genre, more than even science fiction or fantasy.
There's nothing I love more than reading about some depraved character's warped views... it gives me a rush from the intensity of the emotions, the revulsion reflex it triggers, and also the sweet reassurance that however sick I might think I am, at least I could never be as twisted as... that terrible character I'm reading about.
