Just Waking up is a monumental task, and even with his eye (singular, the other is gone, taken out and dropped into a pot of fucking coffee) open, he keeps slipping back in and out of consciousness. It takes a few minutes for him to stabilize enough to wake up fully, Akira's image sliding into view slowly.

But when it does? Even as dazed as he is, a genuine smile makes its way onto his face, eye showing nothing but relief.]
