[ Maybe you were going about your business and blacked out, maybe you were dead. Either way, when you come to, you are in what looks like the entrance hall to a school, except for the very well secured front door. Before you can really get your bearings, a voice rings out on an the intercom. ]

Welcome, kiddos! —How does that sound? 'Kiddos'? Too daddy kink? Eh, let's go with it for now. Anyway, welcome to a once-in-a-lifetime chance at romance and passion, with fabulous prizes! Find love beyond the boundaries of time and space! Original concept, do not steal.

Pick up your tablets and get settled in! A little later today, we'll have our first heart-pounding get-to-know-you event!

—Oh, also, no violence allowed! I know some of you kids are into the murder thing, but that's not the kind of game we're running here.

[ In fact, there are several boxes of electronic tablets around the room. When you pick one up, it displays the gameplay and rules.]

You might be right! I should probably just be thankful, huh? But it seems almost too convenient to be taken from a killing game to a romance game when you think about it.

Ah, you believe this may be a wolf in sheep's clothing situation? That we'll be lulled into a false sense of security by the premise?

Doesn't that seem more likely? There's no way someone like me belongs in a game that's seriously for Ultimates to find romance.

[plsbully]

Ultimates... You're referring to the titles we have been given? Are we meant to take those seriously?

[hopegloats]

It's very serious. If you're truly an Ultimate, it's not something to be taken lightly. In fact it's everything.

[plsbully]

[ he squints at his own tablet, seeming dubious ]

I have never heard of this ... Ultimate ... Chuuni before. I hardly see how I can be the "ultimate" of something unfamiliar to me.

[hopegloats]

You never heard that title before coming here? What's your talent, then?

[plsbully]

Vengeance. Or, at least, that would be a far more fitting ultimate talent of mine.

[hopegloats]

Is that so? What are you taking vengeance against, exactly?

[plsbully]

Oh, I've taken vengeance for a great many things. But now... It is a concept I embody more than something I actively pursue.

[hopegloats]

[ hmm ]

And why did you pursue it before? What was the greater purpose?

[plsbully]

Why else would one pursue vengeance? I was wronged, deeply, by those I believed I could trust.

[hopegloats]

[ something flashes in Komaeda's eyes, but he smiles ]

Of course. I'm sure they deserved it. Would you say things are better now without them?

[plsbully]

[ he laughs, a bit sharp. ]

What, do you think I simply had them all killed?

[hopegloats]

It's possible, isn't it? I don't know you after all.

[plsbully]

It's possible. But do you think it would really be satisfying?

[hopegloats]

It depends on the type of person you are. Plenty of people in this world kill for fun and call it justified.

[plsbully]

[ he laughs. ]

Well, I was more the sort to drag it out. To really make them regret what they had done. I could have had them all killed, of course, but what satisfaction would there be in freeing them from my wrath so swiftly?
