Mm, in that case... where I'm from, there's an entity called the Millennium Earl who creates akuma--essentially, machines disguised in a human's body after said human tries to bring a dead loved one back to life. The soul of the dead is used to power the machine...

The Black Order is a religious organization that fights to destroy the akuma and defeat the Earl with Innocence--a holy weapon that was left by our ancestors. But Innocence was scattered across the globe and not everyone is compatible with it, so the Black Order's Exorcists' numbers are... few.

It's a bit more complicated than that, but those are the basics of the war that's going on back home. Most people aren't aware of it.
