[ Maybe you were going about your business and blacked out, maybe you were dead. Either way, when you come to, you are in what looks like the entrance hall to a school, except for the very well secured front door. Before you can really get your bearings, a voice rings out on an the intercom. ]

Welcome, kiddos! —How does that sound? 'Kiddos'? Too daddy kink? Eh, let's go with it for now. Anyway, welcome to a once-in-a-lifetime chance at romance and passion, with fabulous prizes! Find love beyond the boundaries of time and space! Original concept, do not steal.

Pick up your tablets and get settled in! A little later today, we'll have our first heart-pounding get-to-know-you event!

—Oh, also, no violence allowed! I know some of you kids are into the murder thing, but that's not the kind of game we're running here.

[ In fact, there are several boxes of electronic tablets around the room. When you pick one up, it displays the gameplay and rules.]

It doesn't seem like the best place to return to if the circumstances last time were at all similar to this. All the more reason to make our stay as brief as possible, yes?

I don't take being imprisoned well. If we both feel the same, then I think that's all the reason we need to work together form here on out.

Agreed. I have some experience escaping from unsavory types, so I can only hope that comes in handy if your escape route is no longer an option.

Is there anything else that you can remember from last time that might help? This front door looks...rather heavily locked, but with some kind of key or code it should still open. Unless you don't think it's possible?

We never actually opened the front door while we were here. But I do know that those guns pointed at the entrance are very real.

They looked real enough from where I was standing. ...Mmm, well, then that option might be out. Are there no other ways in or out besides those?

Not that I'm aware of. That doesn't mean there aren't, though.

I'm aware. If there's an exit, I intend to find it. I do have better things to do than sit around here waiting for them to let us go, after all. Work doesn't stop just because you've been kidnapped. You have better things to do too, don't you?

Of course I do. Entrance exams don't study for themselves.

Even if I didn't have anything better to do, I still don't like being yanked around the universe against my will.

...What's your entrance exam for?

[seems a bit surprised she's asking about that as they ascend the stairwell to the fourth floor. almost there!]

University. I graduate this year, and I'd like to study law and political science.

Oh! Like a scholar of sorts, then? You've got your work cut out for you.

[she knows the people who work at the palace have a tendency to work long hours, and while it's most likely not exactly the same, it can't be too different from what she's thinking of.]

But I have a friend in her first year of university who is helping me study. I think I'll be juuuust fine.

I'll wish you luck all the same. I've spent enough sleepless nights studying to know that a little bit of luck never hurts with tests.

I can't really count on luck. Mine is notoriously E-ranked.

What do you study?

[even without context she can assume "E-ranked" is bad.]

I'm a pharmacist, so most of what I study is plants and their medicinal uses. I do have written tests from time to time, but I've also had tests that require looking after a greenhouse full of plants for a few days and making sure that they're growing properly. If you don't know what kind of information you'll need it's easier to just study everything, right?
