Alright, kiddos!! Gather up in the cafeteria for your first event!

[ The cafeteria tables are arranged differently now, long tables pushed to the edges of the room and filled with finger foods and drinks, and the center of the room open except for a bunch of tall, small round tables which are empty except for a stack of cards, but about the right size and height for two people to put drinks on as they stand around.

Vanilla is also standing on one of the tables with a bullhorn. ]

We're starting with a classic! Speed dating! You'll have five minutes each round! When the horn goes off, that's your cue to switch it up and talk to someone else! If you need some conversation starters, try one of the questions on those cards!

...Or don't! You can do whatever you want, I'm not your mom. I'm going with 'uncle' for now!

( The structure here is pretty casual:
- Make a top level
- Tag some people! Optionally, start off with a question from the deck of suggestions!
- Thread! You can ask more questions if you want.

I... don't know what you mean, actually. [Hinata feels himself getting confused at a rapid rate.] Why wouldn't I trust you, Komaeda? I always have.

[hahaha what are you talking about Komaeda]

[ Here's Komaeda leaning too close again, looking over Hinata's face like he's trying to find something. ]

Hmmmmm.... Could it be you don't remember the killing game either?

[His face gets a little pink just from the proximity, because that is Very Close Indeed, but he doesn't pay it much mind because most of him is too preoccupied with screaming, not this again.]

What is going on with you and Tsumiki? First her, and now you, talking about some kind of... killing game, or whatever. [He scrubs his hands down his face. Hinata never thought he'd want this, but he almost wishes he was back on the island where things made sense.] I don't know what's going on with you two, but both of you have me worried.

[ Komaeda settles into the table, leaning on his arms, still a little too close. ]

Then new question - tell me what you remember about me, and we'll just call that the truth for now.

[Hinata pauses for a minute before he breathes out hard through his nose.] Alright, fine. I don't get this, but... fine.

[If he just keeps telling everybody what he knows to be the truth, then surely this weirdness will stop. Or something.]

You were... the first person I saw when I woke up. You went around with me and introduced me to everybody, and helped make sense of a situation that was confusing. We don't get to do our work together mostly, because I'm usually out gathering materials and you stay behind to clean with some of the others. But we hang out a lot when there's free time afterwards.

[I think I've... spent more time with you and Tsumiki than anybody else, actually, is what he doesn't say aloud.]

We've hung out in almost every place in the islands. You like doing safer things and are always nervous about something bad happening or your luck, so I never suggest anything dangerous. But we're always able to relax and have a lot of fun talking together. At least- [He colors a bit.] I... have a lot of fun with you.

[Screw it. While he's here and all.]

Komaeda, you're... a friend that puts me at ease when I'm worried. That I have a lot of fun with and enjoy being around.

[ Well that's... a lot. And not at all what Komaeda was expecting. He isn't immediately sure what to say, or how to process this information. Or how much Hinata seems to genuinely like him - or, his version of him.

He settles back into his seat, giving Hinata some of his personal space back, but never averting his gaze as he studies his face. ]

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but it seems your 'me' is a more worthy person than I am. You and I don't seem to have come from the same place after all.

[A sharp bolt of frustration stabs through the warm feeling in his chest. But that doesn't make it vanish, somehow - it just make it burn hotter.]

What are you even talking about?! A different you, a different me - there's no such thing! You're still Komaeda Nagito, aren't you? [It isn't a question, not really, so Hinata doesn't even give him a chance to respond. Although his voice is quieter with his next words.] It's not a matter of being worthy or not, you idiot. You're Komaeda, so that's what matters.

[ Komaeda absolutely does not know how to respond to any of this and it shows on his face. This is not how people talk about him. ]

I wonder... would you still feel that way if you knew me better.

[ He smiles, clearly deciding he doesn't know how to deal with this right now and trying to move on. He picks up a card. ]

"What is your favorite guilty pleasure?"

[Of course I know you, are the words he bites down. Breathes out a hard sigh as he reminds himself they're still on a time limit. If there's a moment to settle this, it isn't now.]

...I guess that's a better question than what I had, at least. Even if I'm not really sure what my answer would be... [Hinata scratches the side of his face as he thinks.] I don't know, maybe video games? If that even counts.

Hmm. Would that have anything to do with who you play them with?

[ Komaeda smiles and leans on his hand. ]
