Most laguz are warriors, so now that the world is at peace, they need other ways to express their ferocity. Contests of strength are a common sight, even if I don't participate myself.

The only other heron with an interest in battle is my younger sister, after all, and I'd despise myself were I to ever raise my hand to her.

Yes - of the birds. Neither hawks nor crows will fight a heron, for fear of hurting us. So... fighting someone willing to look at me as a true opponent meant a lot to me. Thank you, Ruler.

. . . . Myself, I am a poor fighter, but if you would like to have another match in a different venue - with the sword, perhaps - then I am happy to spar with you again.

I don't know how to hold a sword - but I don't mind giving you the advantage. I should also mention that I have some skill with healing, if you have need.

It's a part of my seid magic. A powerful part, to be sure, but there are plenty of healers, and only three others in all the world who can do what I can. I'm no proper fighter, but having me on the battlefield means that the strongest on my side is twice as strong.
