Rider? Is that what his title was?

[Astolfo wasn't very secretive about his true name, you see.]

I must admit, I'm a bit dissapointed to see him leave the game like that.

Mm, it doesn't surprise me. As that person is rather eccentric, breaking the rules isn't exactly out of the norm.

I can tell...

Perhaps we could check the Greenhouse for an extra myrtle tree, just in case?

[Taking a jab at Astolfo's backstory like the nerd he is.]

counterfaith: (though as for that the passing there)

If such a thing has occurred, it would be prudent to allow that person a few moments of self-reflection, for such foolishness.

Heh. I'm sure they will have all the time they need.

Still someone has to tend to them so they don't die of thirst.

[personal profile] counterfaith 2018-03-03 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, not to worry, I'm sure that will be taken care of. In any case, it is not as if we require water in the first place.
justpure: (Then there's me)

[personal profile] justpure 2018-03-03 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
... As spirits, you mean?

[Humans need water to live. A caveman could understand that.]
counterfaith: (even though I walk through the)

[personal profile] counterfaith 2018-03-03 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's correct.
justpure: (scrum)

[personal profile] justpure 2018-03-03 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
With physical bodies, I might add.

Then what do you feed on? Energy? Souls? Something else?
counterfaith: (remember the wisdom)

[personal profile] counterfaith 2018-03-03 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
All of the above. That is to say, cooked food is a possibility, though it is poor at converting into magical energy - but we are capable of feeding off of one's own innate magical energy source, or the natural energy that is in the earth, or the spiritual cores that humans possess. There are rather gruesome cases wherein Spirits may even cannibalize other humans in order to sustain themselves.

A rather vampiric existence, I think...

[He can only imagine the most notorious people known to man stooping to such extremes, but... For more noble and downtrodden spirits the possibility seems tragically cruel.]

More sensible Spirits are more humane, yes?

counterfaith: (to say that for destruction ice)

[personal profile] counterfaith 2018-03-04 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, vampires are a different beast entirely.

[ literally. ]

Most Spirits do not consume energy in such a way. We are, in large part after all, Heroic. However, that isn't to say there aren't those with malintent towards the living humans of today.

[personal profile] justpure 2018-03-04 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. Much like the concept of Yin and Yang, good cannot exist without evil to balance it out.

But I digress. How do more noble spirits consume energy?
counterfaith: (and the flood,)

[personal profile] counterfaith 2018-03-04 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Can it not, I wonder . . .

[ softer, though he speaks a little louder then, to answer the question ]

As I said before, cooked food does work, though poorly and must be accommodated by quantity. Aside from that, we are traditionally contracted to a magus, who has ample magical energy for us to use.
justpure: (scrum)

[personal profile] justpure 2018-03-04 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
A magus? So that makes you something of a familiar, yes?

[And a parasite, whether ya like it or not. Or would it be more like a symbiotic relationship?

... Eh, he ain't a biologist.]
counterfaith: (even though I walk through the)

[personal profile] counterfaith 2018-03-04 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
We are not "something of a familiar", we are definitively familiars of our Masters. We are summoned into the world by those magi, sustained by those magi, and fight and die for those magi. It is only befitting to call us familiars.
