[ Today the cafeteria looks different again, most of the tables cleared out and the space full of pillows, blankets, and love sacs of various sizes. Around the time everyone gets there, Vanilla pops up in the front of the room.. ]

Do you know what one of the most important things in a relationship is? Honesty! Do you know what some others are? Trust! Self-confidence! Communication! A sense of adventure! Sexual compatibility!

...What was I talking about? Oh, right! Today's event is truth or dare! You know how it works! Find someone and ask them if they want a truth or a dare! If they pick truth, ask them any question and they have to tell the truth. If they pick dare, tell them do do anything and they have to do it. Then it's their turn. Try to ask around!

And... I've got something special for you!

[ Vanilla pulls a sheet off a table to reveal a bunch of tiny plastic bottles, each about the size to hold one sip of liquid. ]

The blue ones are Vanilla's Famous Vanilla-Flavored One-Shot Truth Serum! One truthful statement guaranteed! The red ones are Sarsaparilla's Tequillas! Pure liquid courage - give yourself the extra kick you need to get out of your comfort zone!

...You don't have to drink these if you trust each other and are confident in yourself, but in the spirit of honesty in our relationship, I'm willing to make a trade. If all these shots are drunk by nighttime, I'll give you proof the people eliminated and disqualified are safe!

[ The truth serum, as you would expect, makes you tell the truth. The "tequillas" aren't actually alcoholic, but they do make you feel much braver. Both generally only last the length of one answer/dare, but some of them might last a little longer... chinchillas don't practice good quality control. ]

I believe you when you say that. But it might be a choice, so at least think about it? Regardless of what you choose, I want it to be a choice you won't regret.

[Choice is important to Rin. Like, REALLY important. so he wants her to know she has a choice here too.]

[assent]

I... promise I will consider it, at least.

[ The choice would be a lot easier if she knew the truth, honestly. ] I apologise for worrying you.

You don't need to apologize, it's-

[He should probably explain it.]

Yukio- my twin brother- he takes on too much responsibility. He's got a full-time job AND he goes to school full time AND he teaches cram school classes. And on top of all of that, he's been taking care of a lot of stuff from when our Dad died. He just...it's too much for one person! But any time I try to help him, he just smiles and says it's okay. He smiles that smile. The one both you and Allen get sometimes. And I know he's not okay at all, because he snaps sometimes and I can see just how not-okay he is. But usually it's that same smile and-

[This is why his biggest fear in the world is losing his brother.]

I just...I can tell when it's that kind of smile. When you have too much to handle, but you don't want others to worry too.

[assent]

[ Her gaze softens, drifts down to her own hands that are starting to shake slightly, pressed against her dress as she tries to keep calm about this. ]

Perhaps it is too much for one person, I cannot say I understand your brother's situation, however... I have thousands of lives to consider before my own. I cannot afford to be selfish. [ The smile she gives him is a lot more genuine now, but it's also Bitter. ] Yet here I am.

[flamingprick]

...You know, Allen said something like that to me. About how he couldn't be selfish. You two are a lot alike, you know that?

[He sounds fond when he says that though, and a bit sad.]

Of course, I just ended up being selfish for him instead. Maybe I gotta do the same for you, huh?

[assent]

You may not be completely incorrect in that. [ She pauses. ] It is not as though I am from a peaceful place either, though it does not compare to his world... it is not easy.

[ Her gaze softens now though. ]

And if you spend all that energy being selfish for both of us, who will be selfish for you?

[flamingprick]

That's alright. Because, wouldn't you know it? Being selfish for you gets me what I want anyway.

[Which is, largely, affection. He'd be content to sit there all day with her holding hands and kissing every now and then. He's a simple man with simple wants.

Also he's now pretty close, and he's got a mischievous grin on his face.]

If you say 'truth', I'm gonna ask you what I should do to be selfish for you. And if you say 'dare', I'm gonna dare you to let me do what I think would be a good way to be selfish for you.

So, truth or dare?

[assent]

[ She blinks. ] It does...?

[ Maybe she shouldn't be so surprised though, given that he's already proven that he isn't as easily embarrassed anymore. Napping on her bed had apparently been a short term embarrassment before floodgates opened.

The grin on his face, how close he is combined with what he says has her heart pounding a little though, because while she has ideas it's hard to say for sure.

She just knows she won't be able to tell him anything, so: ] Dare.

[flamingprick]

[Well I mean. The 'talk' they all had yesterday helped a lot. And his confidence has been boosted by a LOT thanks to a few certain things that have happened recently. Mostly he just learned to chill out and not worry too much, a skill he clearly needs to pass onto some people here.

So, he holds out a hand for her.]

Come with me, then?

[Because he always gives people a chance to back out if they change their mind.]

[assent]

[ 'Talk'... There was a little of that, sure. But it's fair to say that she has zero chill sometimes, though she's certainly trying now. Her hand moves to clasp his, fingers entwining together. ]

Of course.

[ She might be an odd mix of nervous and excited all at once, but the excited part is the emotion that counts, right? ]
