I did not say he ate your soul - that implies some level of intent. This was simply an accident, I'm sure - he quite likes you, so I doubt he would have tried to snuff out your life.

Rider, Avenger, and I are Heroic Spirits - in short, familiars who are bound by contract to humans by feeding off of their magical energy, or in other words, the energy that their soul produces. While the primary method of sustenance is through that contract, it is possible to absorb that magical energy through other means - eating food, devouring a human's spiritual core, or absorbing a human's bodily fluids.

There are other methods too, but I'm sure you're understanding what I'm saying, by this point?
