Trash Squad Day 11 - SECRETS

Are you ready for it?! It's the long awaited final event! This is your last chance to get close before your final dates and the final bonus event!

And, back by popular demand, it's the motive vi—wait, no, not that. Well, I guess you're motivated to build your relationships? That's better anyway.

...Anyway! Check your tablets! You will find you have a few interesting video files! They should be familiar to you! The catch is... if you don't share each one with a different person by nighttime today, they will all be shown to everyone here! We'll have a fun midnight viewing party!

This may seem a bit cruel, but... love is cruel sometimes. Take it as an opportunity to get a bit closer to the people you care about, or everyone will learn a bit more about you! It's win-win when you think about it that way!

[ On your tablets are a minimum of 3 video files! There is no maximum; it's however many you OOCly want to deal with. Each video contains some sort of secret your character has—'secret' loosely defined as anything they would be uncomfortable being thrown up on a big screen in the auditorium in front of everyone. The presentation can be as simple as lines of text with embarrassing facts (Alice wet the bed until she was in junior high!) or as involved as a dramatically edited montage of the murders they committed through their whole life. Your choice!

Each file should be shown to a different person to count as 'shared'. If there is anything they do not manage to, or choose not to, share with someone in particular, comment with a brief description of it over here. These will all be shared publicly in a post which goes up on Thursday before the date announcement post. ]

[ It feels strange, to struggle with words when language has been something she has been able to use across many different languages. ]

It is harder to believe when you struggle to define who you are, you realise?

[His struggle is more 'human vs demon', so it's not quite the same. But he kind of understands.]

But I'm serious. There's all kinds of explanations for this video, and unless we're told the truth you can't let it get to you. Shit like this, it eats away at you. You're a good person, Sonia. You deserve better than a shitty video wrecking your everything.

[ It's something relatable in a way though, yeah. ]

Actually, I... can confirm it with my classmates, when I bring myself to gather the courage.

[ She will get the full story from Mikan for sure, eventually. ] However, all of my life I have lived merely for the sake of my country and my people. My identity and everything surrounding me was formed due to that. I apologise, it is just... going to take some time to settle, I suppose.

[ Plus that video was. Something. ]

No, it's fine. I get you. It's hard to change who you are when you've spent your whole life being something else. Believe me, I know.

[And actually...he's going to pull out his tablet and flip over to a specific video. The screenshot is of Rin holding onto someone's shirt and screaming at them as he raises his fist at them, ready to punch them.

He'll offer the tablet to Sonia.]

You said you didn't believe I had a temper once, right? Well, it's as much a part of me as your past is a part of you.

[But he'll let her press the button to watch it, when she's ready.]

I suppose that is true, yes.

[ She blinks as he pulls out his tablet, her hand automatically taking it but ah-- She looks sheepish at that. ]

It is not that I do not believe it, merely that it is difficult to. You are incredibly gentle with me, after all.

[ Except when biting, that is not so gentle.

Also tbh she will probably think these children deserve it tbh. ]

I will start now, okay?

[ She presses the screen to play. ]

Well...if you're serious about liking me, then you should know. Because it's as much a part of me as hiding your feelings away and acting like everything's okay is a part of you. So you need to know.

[He nods to her when she says she's ready, and the video begins.

It starts with A scene from when Rin is a child and destroyed his classroom and hurt his father. From there, it goes through his life and shows several scenes of more of the same: Rin getting upset, getting violent with people, shouting at people, scaring people away. People he was trying to befriend just moments before.

Then he's older, a teenager now, and he's being dragged around by a monster wearing his father's skin. A monster who tells him he's going to become a demon, and Rin tries to deny it, to say he's human, but seeing his own rage-filled reflection makes him question that.

There's more. Rin arguing with Yukio. And then, them arguing again. And then again, with another boy. And then there's a shot of him yelling at Ichigo, about ready to punch him. And then one of his fight with Yusuke not even a week ago.

It's the same pattern, repeated dozens of times: Rin getting angry, doing something he regrets, and then when the anger wears off he's left with regret.

Until the last clip, where it shows just what happens when he really loses control, as well as the way his friends reacted to it.

When the video finishes playing, Rin isn't even looking at Sonia anymore. He's glancing down at the floor, his arms firmly at his side. He's so sure Sonia is going to be frightened by it all and scared off that he's already bracing himself for that rejection. Because this is way different from the secrets they had been talking about. This is a real danger, and he wouldn't blame Sonia for not wanting to be near it.]

Of course. [ She pauses. ] Though I doubt it will change anything.

[ If anything because she hasn't been very open about how pessimistic she is about humans either. She expects people to be bullies, to hurt each other and for corruption to overtake them. Her date with Ruler was her crying over that as well, crying for him because of what he went through thanks to that.

She doubts Rin is purely to blame, even if he does blame himself and the first part of the video only makes her believe that more. Her expression is with a frown, sure, but it isn't probably for the reason he would think if he saw it. Her grip on the tablet definitely grows stronger as things continue, but she refuses to look away either. It's definitely hard in parts, particularly with explosions or with blood or screams but she keeps a firm control over herself with this--if only because she has to prove that she's able to face it.

Besides, her impression has not changed at all. Despite what he might think, the triggers definitely seem to make sense as to why he'd anger as well. Being called a demon, being misunderstood, the boy who had not taken his father seriously when Rin's guilt over his own is still there.

She doesn't feel fear so much as sadness for any of this.

In fact, the hardest in all of this to watch is the fight with Yusuke because he is a good friend of hers as well, but it still makes sense when two stubborn people clash.

With the video done she finally peers over at him, taking in the look on his face and how he seems to be prepared for the worst. She puts the tablet aside, her hand curving over his as she shifts. ]

Please stop making that expression. [ Her voice is soft as she says it though, a gentle request as her hand takes one of his, entwining their fingers together... and the other moves to lift his chin slowly. Then she's leaning to kiss him on the mouth, warmly and sweetly as if she hasn't just watched a video full of violence and the like. ]

[Sonia, you never fail to surprise Rin.

He could see the kiss coming from the moment she took his hand, but he doesn't do anything to stop it. He's mostly stunned that, after seeing all of that, she wouldn't be frightened. Not that Rin intends to ever hurt her, but it IS his past and all.

So when she kisses him, he's hesitant at first. As if he expects this to all end and she would walk away. But she doesn't, she stays right there, and slowly he begins to respond to the kiss. It's different from his usual kisses, where he is all to eager to take control and add heat to it right away. No, he stays reserved this time, letting Sonia have control of things. He presses back against her gently, letting her know he wants this, but otherwise he lets her stay in control.]

[ Probably because even without her memories she's seen plenty of violence from people. Despite that, she still has hope she could have changed things before--at least with knowing what she does about herself, she can focus on him and Allen now. Especially after seeing visuals.

The hand holding his pulls away for a second, but it's more to curl around his neck as she shifts her weight, trying to blindly press her knee onto the chair for balance. The kiss is still slow, of course, deep and slow rather than the quick rush he usually goes for--like she's trying to pour her feelings into it. ]

[Slow kisses are fine, especially right now when it's not about fun and more about making your feelings known to each other.

With his hand free, he snakes his arms around her waist, giving her a bit more structure to balance on. His grip is loose enough that she can still slip away if she wants, though.

After a little while, though, Rin has to pull away for air and he's left with his breath coming in quick, short spurts. There's tears at the corners of his eyes, but that's just because he's feeling so much now, both good and bad. Too many emotions can make his eyes tear up, it seems.

He pulls a hand back from her waist to wipe at his eyes, muttering an apology as he does so.]

Sorry. I'm not- I'm not crying.

[ The smile she gives him when he pulls back (and honestly, she wasn't going to make it any longer either) is incredibly fond. He's reaching up to wipe his eyes before she has the chance to, so it means that she just has to do the next best thing which is rest her forehead against his. ]

It is fine if you are.

I'm fine. I'm...it's a lot.

[Overwhelming is what he means. To go from such anxiousness and sadness to instant relief over being accepted, it's a lot. His emotions run high anyway, and this is just a lot for him.

He'll press his forehead back against hers gently, though.]

But it's alright. If you're alright with it, then it's alright.

Of course I am. [ She keeps their foreheads pressed together, and shifts to seat herself on his lap properly this time, so they can have Real Snuggles. ]

Besides, if it will help... I will try my best to keep you anchored as well. Love is often more of a powerful tool than hatred, is it not?

[Love...]

I think so, yeah. They always say stuff about love and kindness being the best way to fight demons.

[And snuggling that particular demon is a good way to get him to calm down.]

[ The only way is to yolo now, ig. ]

Is it working? [ Her arms curl around him now, definitely snuggling for sure as she tries to forget her own video as well. Not completely, no, but to put it in the back of her mind for this. ]

[Pushing those videos to the back of their minds seems like the best idea right now anyway. No sadness, just cuddles.]

I'd say so. But maybe we should stay like this a bit longer, just to be sure.

[Rin is a very physical person, after all. He's happiest when he's touching someone else. Leaning on them, hugging them, whatever. Physical contact of any kind is very nice.]

[ A great idea. She even hums in response to that, shifting a little more until she's curled up on him, leaning into him completely. Her face buries against his neck, her arms curled tight around him.

It's nice and warm, honestly. ]

[He'll sit like that for a while too, holding onto her and just enjoying being around her. It's...nice. To just relax and not really have to think about anything.

Eventually, though, Rin's need to talk will come back in full force.]

The one with the glasses is Yukio. I already told you a lot about him, I think. The guy with that bleached stripe in his hair, that's Suguro. He's training to become an exorcist too, but he's studying to become an Aria. Someone who chants verses to dispel demons.

[ It's fine if he talks and she listens, right? As that's mostly what she's doing now. ]

I had assumed with your brother, however Suguro, was it? Are there different types of exorcists in that case?

[ While talking she'll start drawing patterns onto him with a finger, too. Overly content if not a bit tired from all the emotional outbursts. ]

[That's fine. Rin likes to talk, and he doesn't mind Sonia tracing her finger against his skin.]

Yup, there's five different ones. Knights fight with swords, dragoons with guns and long-range stuff. Arias do the chanting stuff, and tamers summon demons to fight for them. Then there's doctors, who work with medicines and treat patients while also fighting demons with different kinds of medicines.

There's some overlap with the different types though. Like I'm mostly a knight, but I'm a tamer too, since I've got Kuro as my familiar.

[ She's actually really interested when he explains the different types, mostly because she had no idea it would be that elaborate or complicated.

Though there is one thing that stands out. She'd seen Kuro in the memories, but it doesn't connect that... it's one and the same, really? ]

Kuro?

My familiar! He's a demon-cat.

Ah-- [ She pauses, her hand moving from him now to tap her lip. ]

The one in the memory?

Yep, that's him! He's a friendly demon, so he's alright. You'll like him I think.

[ She brightens up at that. ]

He did seem very snuggly. [ I mean he kept rubbing his face against Rin's in the video so this is the impression she's going to get. ]
