[ Caius is not the comforting type. He likely never will be.

It would be wise if we spoke in another room. Away from all of this.

[ Even if it was just in the hallway. It might be good to get away from the scene -- from the auditorium. ]

I'd even offer you that bout right now. But as you are, you don't seem like you would be able to manage such an activity.

[He nods, numbly - and moves automatically, heading out of the auditorium.

[ He'll follow Ichigo.

Silently at first, and then wonder if he has a destination in mind. ]

[He ends up in the hallways, having not really had one in mind. Once he's there, he stops - and looks back at caius.]

[Sorry, Caius. You'll have to be the one to initiate conversation at the moment.]

Tell me about something--perhaps an accomplishment of some sort.

[He's not opposed to it, but...he doesn't see the use right now. Especially when they just saw a man be brutally executed right in front of them.]

[ Which, considering it looks dismal, Caius decided for Ichigo that there'd be a better topic of conversation. ]

The man allows a silence to befall them both -- purposefully this time. He also ends it by speaking up after a moment. ]

[ In telling a story of "accomplishment", that is. ]

Originally, the world I was from had goddesses and gods dictating the lives of men. They were bound even further by creatures who had been dictated roles as our so-called caretakers, but they did not fulfill those duties without making sure some of us were sacrificed in carrying out their will.

They had us all under their palm, and though eventually we escaped from even that fate, I can tell you now it appeared as if that would never occur. But of course it did.

[ He had even lost faith himself and given into despair. That he'd be a corpse, living eternally in the chaos, bound by it, with those many Yeuls when Bhunivelze made his appearance. ]

[He's sleep deprived and went with the first thing that came to mind - even if it was unfortunately linked with executions.

Still, he stays silent as Caius talks, only nodding slightly. Gods controlling people's fates...he can understand why Caius might've wanted to overturn that.

That, and it has parallels to their current situation.]

And you made that change happen?

Partially.

[ He defied and overturned Etro -- a goddess. But he cannot claim being responsible for the fall of Bhunivelze. ]

You could call the fall of gods and goddesses themselves the result of a group effort. Though, in some respects, the group effort wasn't always so organized.

[ There's a bit of dryness to his tone here. But he's serious.

All in all, he is mentioning it on purpose, yes. Because of the parallels. ]
