It's not possible to get used to it...or is it?

[McGonagall is no stranger to people dying in front of her -- magical duels can be rather brutal when they're life-or-death -- but that doesn't mean it's any easier for her to accept bizarre deaths]

I'm not sure becoming desensitized would be good. It'd feel like other people's lives would lose value.
