Day 10 - NEW FEAR'S EVE
THREE! TWO! ONE! HAPPPPPY NEW FEAR!
This is the last raccoon holiday for a while, so if you'd like a vacation from this murder game before the KILLING NIGHT, check your tablets! We'll even let you leave the campus, so you'd better praise our generosity!
[There's a new app on the tablets that cannot be removed. It will only activate when you are alone in your room, but click the cute carrot icon and you'll be given a simple prompt: "TAKE A VACATION?" with yes/no prompts. If you click "no," nothing happens; the app simply closes, ready for you to click on it again. But if you choose "yes," you'll become a bit lightheaded, and the next thing you know, you'll be back home. But not just any home: The home in which your murder carrot(s) (the best one, the newest one, or maybe even both of them? It's up to player discretion) has already been made reality. You'll be there for a full three hours before you're brought back to Nope's Peak, holding the tablet as if you never left. After that, the app will only say, "You know what to do."]
By the way, if it ain't obvious, that killing night is tonight! If you're thinking about doing a murder, rest assured: We will NOT let the dead mess up a trial like that again!
[In other news, the science lab has been restocked, and the raccoons made a HUGE mess eating out of the kitchen trash, like worse than usual.]

And she ends up in a strange place for it. It's Musashi. But it isn't at it's normal pace, it's slower, causally cursing through the air. There are no sudden announcements that they're going into stealth mode.
It's even stranger when she meets people. Masazumi isn't rushing to get to work or to plan something. She's put on weight, she can afford food now, and she's walking with her father. And the more Futayo looks, the more she finds something different. The blond woman covered in scars tugging the cap wearing ninja around. The Tachibans are here, for some reason. They both offer to spar with her later.
The oddest thing, by far is when she finds Horizon-sama. The automaton smiles and waves a hand. An actual hand, not a synthetic one belonging to a robot, a flesh and blood hand.
Then a rough, calloused hand lands on her head and ruffles her hair with a deep, rumbly laugh.]
'Ha! What's with you today Futayo? You didn't steal any of my sake during lunch did ya?'
'Tadakatsu-sama. Futayo-sama was not a lunch with you today.'
'That so? You settled in and made friends to go eat with huh? That's good, that's good~'
[She doesn't even have to turn around.]

Corrin will be in a time where there is no war. His mother... also alive. Winter has started and he is spending it with both his siblings in Nohr and Hoshido.
His mother had made him a kimono for him to try on.It was clearly made for the new year that he was about to celebrate with his Hoshidan siblings.
Just before he was sent back here and the three hours are up, he was being taught how to use the bow and arrow by Niles, who was a sight for Corrin's sore eyes. Niles' hands over his own as he was holding up the bow correctly after being corrected by him. He then ends up here just before he was able to pick up another arrow to practice shooting again.
In fact, Corrin will end up in his room with the very same clothes and bow/arrow in his hand that he had when he was there.
He drops the bow and arrow. It clatters on the floor and he wraps his arms around himself before he fell to his knees and shudders. Sobs begin to come out of him.
Is a time with no war really that obtainable...? ]

Finally, his curiosity won out. And what he was treated to was something he wouldn't have thought possible.
It was his mother, alive and aged to where she should've been, warmly welcoming him home to the clinic and sitting down with him at the table, asking him what happened during the day and making a gentle joke about why he looked so grumpy. He'd had a little bit to talk with her alone, then the rest of his family came in - his father, his sisters - and for a few hours, they were together. For a few hours, he was able to bask in the warmth he hadn't had since he was nine, a warmth that settled down deep into his bones at seeing his family so happy and content. The center of their world hadn't been ripped out - Masaki was alive, brightly shining on all of them like she should have been for all those years without her.
And Ichigo was the happiest he'd been in years.
So when he's taken back to the school, it's like being shoved out of your warm bed directly in the cold - he stares numbly down at the tablet in his hands, unheeding of the tears spilling down his cheeks.
It takes everything he has to set it down gently, and once that's done he hugs himself with shaky hands, gritting his teeth and squeezing his eyes shut as the tears come freely.]

Once he does, the scene folds before him as expected.
Eternal darkness washes over him, with the souls shrouded in such shadow as well heading where they need to go, with him watching over them. It is silent, enough to hear a pin drop, and it feels as if where he was happened to be but a distant memory. It's discomforting and not as peaceful as it might be, and by the time it's ended, he's holding the tablet in his hands. ]
It never ends.
[ The words are spoken to himself, as the dim drum of anger beats within his veins and he stared ahead with eyes burning vaguely with the embers of virulent emotions. ]

What Seto gets is dinner out with his family as congratulations for his acceptance to Todai. Mokuba high-fives him and Mother kisses his forehead and his father is so, so proud, and Kaiba returns and shakes and shakes for hours.]

Took you long enough, says Boey, and Mae blindly swats her hand to the side and successfully smacks his arm, to which he yelps.
She opens her eyes, slowly; backed by a bright blue sky and a blinding sun, she can see Celica and Boey looking down at her with her head in the former's lap and the rest of her half-sprawled across the former's. Boey still winces from the smack but Celica laughs, lightly, leaning against him. Mae can hear the sea.
My legs fell asleep while you were dozing, says Boey.
If I recall, Celica says, chuckling just so, you were the one who insisted we didn't distu—
I-I did not!
Mae reaches up, dazed, and twists a lock of Celica's hair loosely around a finger. It drops, and Mae hesitates, hand hovering awkwardly in the air, before she only barely brushes her knuckles against Boey's face. Her hand lowers to rest onto her stomach, then drops onto the ground below her, and she rakes her fingers through beach sand.
Mae? Celica's expression knits into concern, and, despite a moment he spends scrunching his face up as though to bury the feeling, so does Boey's. Are you all right?
Celica wears a simple day dress and no crown. Idly, Boey takes Mae's hand in his, fingers loose between fingers. Mae makes the shape of the word yeah with her mouth but no sound comes out. There are fresh fruits at home, and she knows this, somehow, somewhere in the back of her mind; they're from the spring harvest Mila has gifted Zofia. Just as it has been, just as it should be.
Mae?
She sighs, long and contented. She hears the ocean lap at the shore close by. They'll go home soon, the three of them, make dinner together in a too-small kitchen where elbows will bump and arms will wrap around waists and Mae will use her mixing spoon to jab at Boey's sides more than she will for cooking until Celica tells them both to behave and the day will pass long and lazy. She knows this as well as she knows herself, without knowing how or why. Without needing to.
(It's all going to be gone soon, but for now, this is—enough, but only for now, only for now.)]

He opens his eyes to a discrete suitcase in his hands. When he opens it on the table, he doesn't need to count to see know how much is inside. A number Eichi-kun paid him before— his talent is memorization, so of course he recognizes that.
He texts a servant from the main household his address, and drops the suitcase off in a coin locker, and after that— for once, he calls Jun-kun to come pick him up for Eden's practice before the big Winter Live.
Jun tells him to stay put, so he instead he calls a car and has them drop him off at practice, and he gets an hour with Nagisa-kun to himself as Jun-kun is off on a wild Hiyori hunt, and Nagisa's snake just... isn't. He asks and Nagisa looks at him blankly and Hiyori doesn't mention him again. They practice like they're kids again, up on the roof in the moonlight where Hiyori could pretend Nagisa's eyes focused only on him was something like being loved back.
Jun-kun shows up as they finish, disheveled with a loud GODDAMN on his lips, frustration in every line in his body. Hiyori waves as he feels Nagisa's gaze move to Jun and Hiyori swans up to drape on Jun. He obviously wants to shove him off, but doesn't as Hiyori looks back to watch Nagisa watching both of them— is Nagisa jealous? Is he happy? Is this his Nagisa, even with the snake gone? He takes Jun's wrist and pulls him towards the door so they can leave together.
"Princess, didn't we need to practice—"
"Jun-kun, Jun-kun! Isn't it my place to decide what we do and when we do it? Are you questioning my decisions? Too bad! You don't get to have a say! We're going home now, to Bloody Mary!"
So they do. Into their dorm, Hiyori climbs the stairs and throws himself on the couch and motions for his puppy to bound into his lap and Jun walks past like he's about to brush by— and Hiyori changes focus, grabbing his wrist again and pulls him down on the couch. Jun looks at him askance, but doesn't protest.
A moment of silence, tense without any companionably. Bloody Mary yips and Hiyori lets her jump out of his lap, as he collapses his weight fully on Jun, who doesn't shove him off still. It'd be like a game of chicken, except he knows Jun never will and he falls fully into Jun's lap, face down so Jun can't see him. Jun-kun, Jun-kun, attention please! he announces into Jun's leg where he can't hear him all muffled, but Jun knows the gist of the demand as he sighs heavily.
"Who have you gotten to hate you now?" His hand moves to tangle in Hiyori's curls but even as Jun asks him, he doesn't expect an answer.
It's just as well that Hiyori isn't going to give him one. ]

He got to celebrate his 16th birthday with his family. His whole family: Yukio, his dad, Kuro, the other priests from the church, everyone. Three hours of dinner, cake, and general fun. Basically, the party he wanted but wasn't able to get because half of the people in that group were either dead or gone for good.]
