Nah, we gotta go deeper than just lists. We have to do one of the classics: Angel-san.

It's great! First you write all the hiragana on a paper, plus 'yes' and 'no'. Then everyone involved holds onto the pen with one hand and they ask 'the spirit' questions. The pen moves and it's like a spirit is talking to you!

[Poor-man's Ouija, basically.]

Technically everyone's moving the pen, since they're all holding it. It works because if everyone expects a 'yes' answer to a question then they all move the pen towards 'yes' without realizing it.

I don't disagree with the psychology behind that premise.

However, cynically speaking, someone in the group is inevitably going to cheat and guide the pen.

Probably, yeah. But it's hard to tell someone's doing that with a big group.

Now, perhaps it's the detective in me, but I can't help but want to ask, who among this hypothetical group is moving the pen?

Could it be... the one who suggested the game in the first place? Yes, I think that's the likeliest culprit.
