Day 15

[There are really only two important things to note about Day 15:

One, your tablet informs you that there's a killing night tonight! Tonight we're back to normal; only one murder, please!

And two, there is shitty prepackaged deli sushi in kitchen. So uh, y'know. Enjoy that.]

[okay he's doing it, Seto is rolling through the infirmary bright and early to play card games

...and since that's not where anyone is anymore, he takes considerably more time before rolling up to Ichigo's room to play card(?) games. He'll knock on the door whether or not it's open, with a box of Triscuits and a frown]

[SORRY FOR NOT SENDING OUT A MEMO SETO. . .]

[but! Akira's the one who answers the door, looking a bit bleary-eyed because he was napping before Seto knocked. but he takes one look at that box of Triscuits and those cards and immediately perks up]

Aha. You're taking me up on my offer.

If you're busy, I can come back. Sleeping counts as "busy," too.

[purrtagonist]

[stifles a yawn and shakes his head, before he slips out of the room and into the hallway]

Nah. I was about to get up anyway. Do you mind playing out here so we don't wake Ichigo?

[his shoulders loosen as well]

You don't need anything for your leg?

[purrtagonist]

[glances down at said leg, which he is currently holding off of the ground, bent at the knee. the bandages around his calf are clearly visible]

. . . Ulaz told me to keep it propped up. I should probably get a pillow.

[looks like he's willing to be helpful??]

[Seto you are sweet]

In there-- [jerks the thumb of his good hand towards Ichigo's room]

Wait out here, I'll be right back.

[no? at least, not enough to volunteer with actual words, so he'll do as told]

[a good Seto!!]

[Akira slips back into Ichigo's room and is gone for all of ten seconds before he reemerges, pillow tucked under his arm. he takes a seat against the wall near the door, propping up his injured leg in front of him, his non-injured leg tucked underneath]

So how are you holding up, Seto?

[shrugs]

Shouldn't that be my line?

I stole it from you first.

[holding his hands out for cards]

They really need to do something about these pickpockets, it's really becoming a problem.

[passes him a deck]

I'm fine, considering. So now the question's mine again.

[purrtagonist]

There's no police force here to clean up the neighborhood. I think you're going to have to deal.

[shuffling the deck]

. . . I'm fine. I slept for most of the day, and when we're done, I'll probably sleep some more.

Pity, this used to be such a nice neighborhood. Our poor property values.

And is that sleeping or repeatedly waking up?

[purrtagonist]

Whatever are you going to do about the price of real estate now?

[he's being careful!]

Actual sleeping. Waking up every now and then to eat, but mostly sleeping.

It's a shame. At least my property taxes should go down.

If you've figured that much out, good on you. Staying down long enough for it to count as actual sleep is more difficult than popular media would have you believe.

I slept pretty well before I came to this place, actually.

[time to lay out the cards just like Kaiba taught him for an impromptu game of DUEL MONSTERS]

And I think my body is angry enough that it isn't going to keep me awake against my will.

[good boy. we'll make a pro duellist of you yet]

I've never heard of angered sleep before. I'd think I'd do better at it in that case.

[one day he'll kick Yugi's ass, too]

. . . trust me. Most of the time, it isn't worth it.

[plays a card face down then ends his turn]

...Three more nights, right?

[also places cards down in some. . . meaningful order, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY DUEL MONSTERS!!]

Supposedly. For those who managed to make six friends, that is.

If we don't drop down to ten players or less before then.

[good because neither do I. kaiba does some sort of appropriate response]

If someone successfully partnered with a new person every night until now, they should only have two more to go. If they're allowed to matriculate out...that will also take the numbers down.

[glossing over the dead guys along the way but]

[Akira's response is also appropriate, albeit probably not the most efficient move to make, as he is still a novice]

[but he nods, agreeing with Kaiba's numbers]

And I doubt anyone who managed to make six friends is going to stick around for longer than necessary. So. . .

Three more nights.

[he breathes out those words, like. . . he's seeing the actual ending to this game for the very first time in two weeks]

The hardest and longest part of any project is when you can start seeing the end. Don't get careless.
