Day 17 - WHODUNNIT?

[It's that time again! The Great Detective has been killed, so put those little grey cells to work and find the culprit!]

[Most of the flooding has been stopped as well, though it's uncomfortably damp just about everywhere. Looks like the raccoons only half-assed their cleanup.]

[Speaking of half-assed, where's Tycoon? I mean, broken ones, sure, but has anybody seen him up and about? Looks like you guys might be flying blind this time around...]

Remember that apology letter I wrote you? I wrote my name in Japanese on it.

[As if that would explain anything.]

The elaborate symbol? I have not seen other symbols like that here, except for in the Recyclr feed today.
flamingprick: (I heard something like that once)

Everyone who's Japanese has them for their name. It's not just a name, but it's also a word. Like mine is read as 'Rin', but it also means 'phosphorus'.

The symbols are important because names with different meanings can be said the same way. Like 'ichigo' usually means 'strawberry', but I'm pretty sure that's not what Ichigo's name means.

'Ichi' and 'Go'.

[WHERE DID HE COME FROM]

As in 'one' and 'protect.'

[DETAILS]

I think names everywhere have meanings? But like, it's a big thing in Japan, because of how we write stuff.
insurgeont: (These keywords won't be good.)

...Do you happen to know what "Shiro" means?

[ Rin cannot actually give Ulaz the correct answer on this one because Ulaz doesn't know that's actually short for Shirogane, but OH WELL, he doesn't know that. ]
flamingprick: (ehehehe)

[ACTUALLY]

Sure! Shiro's my dad's name too!

There's a few different ways to write it, actually. 'White' is the most common one. But the symbol for 'ro' means 'son', so you could put in any meaning for 'shi' and it would make a name for a boy. 'fourth son' is pretty common too. 'lion son' is what my dad's name means.

[It doesn't give Ulaz a real answer, since 'Shirogane', but Rin knows a bit about the name Shiro from experience.]

[ Lion son. Good lord. That would be almost comically appropriate. Ulaz doesn't really believe in things like destiny, but if anything could convince him otherwise, it'd be Shiro. ]

...I do not know the symbols he uses for his name.

You should ask him the next time you see him. I bet he would tell you.

[ ...ah. ]

If I am lucky enough to see him again, perhaps I will.

[ GOTTA. GET OUT OF HERE ALIVE FIRST. ]
