ENDGAME/EPILOG
[In the control room, the raccoons float quietly in their pods; none of the wild cackling from before, no raucous mocking—Where did those pesky animatronics go, anyway? Maybe not every question has been answered, but...how much does it matter? The lost souls are back, tangible and whole, though marked still by whatever's done them in. Maybe those scars and aches won't fade, either.
A metric fuckton of experimenting has gotten us to the answer of how to get back to where we belong: the first control room console makes it easy to find the thumbnail of your world, and, when selected, it automatically brings you to twenty two days from moment you were kidnapped from. It's easy to see an image where you should be there and aren't, and simply select it. The program confirms that you'd like to initiate the transport process, and directs you to stand on the glowing platform; have someone hit the button to shut the process down, or it will time itself out in five minutes.
Is the moment you were brought from not good enough? What about the rewards you were promised? It seems as though specifying those offers or threads isn't quite possible, but the console has two options, each manipulable independently of each other: you can control the date and time, allowing yourself to return as though you hadn't been kidnapped at all. You can also use a slider at the bottom to control the quality of the universe you're brought back to, sliding from the carrot to the stick side: A world where everything that possibly could have gone right for you and those you'd want it for does, where every choice and chance resolves in your favor...or one where there isn't a single moment that isn't conspiring to work against you.
It should be that simple, but...none of those are your universes. Trying to go to any universe but the one marked for you, and/or at any point but that three-week span you've been gone, prompts a warning message about a duplicate version of anyone belonging to that world. It asks if you'd like to proceed, and warns you once more by giving names of potential "doppelgangers"—but will not stop you from stepping onto the platform as it twinkles blue light, regardless. Is improvement worth interfering, maybe destroying, the life of another you?
That choice is up to you. For the first time in a long time, these choices are yours.

[ She says that in a soft voice, quiet to herself. Of course, there's also the fact that when the 'doppelgangers' are shown on the screen as a warning at any given point she knows immediately the meaning behind it.
Even if someone would suggest that she take that better life, Illya will refuse it. It isn't worth killing another version of herself, a parallel world version for it. And the onii-chan in that world won't be hers. That family isn't hers. So she has to live with the facts.
Going back to her normal universe, though, that time that fits the moment she left — she knows what will happen to her. So she's conflicted on what to do here, really. ]

She's going right back, of course, and then going right to the hospital where there are real doctors, almost all of whom are not purple pointy-eared child-killers. This is Juuban, she'll just tell the doc she had one of those weird fainting spells that go around every so often and woke up like this. Rei and Ami'll hear the real truth, this is more sci-fi than spiritual but still, Rei's good at dealing with shit. And also Minako's learned a lot about keeping burdens to yourself and can subtly rub her face in it about how it's way more mature to open up about these things. Subtly, mind you, she's not Usagi.
...And maybe she'll look up some dopplegangers. If Ichigo's single in her world, it's definitely worth introducing him to Makoto. It's not all that moral to get a normal boy entangled in senshi business but look, he's not that normal. And Minako is not that moral, not when love's on the line. Love's not the reason why she's going to look up Kaiba, though, anyone that interesting is bound to, like, resurrect an ancient dragon cult or something if he doesn't have real friends around to stop him.

This whole thing has been...an experience, to put it lightly. He's shed more tears here than he ever has for most of his teenage life, and met so many wonderful people, made memories - good and bad - that he'll never, ever forget...
And he hopes, in some small way, that everyone else will remember, too. Maybe not the bad times, but the times they all shared together, the smiles and what laughter there was to be found in this place. He wishes he had more things to give, more mementos, but...
...Maybe the memories are enough, despite it not seeming like it is.
Ichigo is one of the last people out - wanting to hang around for a while to see everyone off (and also, uh, other things), so he's readily available to chat with if anyone wants to say their goodbyes to him. The constant on his face is the soft, sad smile that he wears on his face as he sees people slowly filter out, back to their own worlds and times.

I'd like to say: you all are the most brain-dead, mentally-deficient lumps of unrefined bacterial paste I've ever had the misfortune of being placed with. I'd like to say that, but it'd be an insult to paste. At least the bacteria would have more culture.
Kurosaki Ichigo, you are one of the most ill-mannered emotionally volatile men I've ever seen. Watching you go through the extremes of emotions you underwent over a mere day going by was a tragedy that quickly turned into farce. I'd wish you best of luck to your relationship, if it had any sort of future. Sure, you and Kurusu Akira knew each other for all of three weeks, but I'm sure it was 'true love'.
Speaking of which, Kurusu Akira. You betrayed me, of which there can only be one response. My words to you are simply "see you, soon," you'll know what I mean.
Honda Futayo, ditto to you. Your betrayal was just as contemptible, if perhaps not as reprehensible. However, credit where credit's due: you were the best assistant I could have hoped for, under the circumstances.
Saihara Shuichi, I'm very disappointed in you. I had such hopes for you at first. Perhaps, I said to myself, you would be able to look past frivolous 'emotional concerns' in the name of solving the mystery. But you could not handle even that. Pathetic. Truly, pathetic. Though you did go on to solve the mystery of who the killers were the last night, you lost any points you could earn from that when you tried to say: "And therefore we should vote for..." one of them over another. The detective should not have any concern for what happens after she reveals the truth, only for the reveal itself. You overstepped your bounds, and therefore revealed yourself only worthy of mention in the context of discussion regarding the dustbin of detective history.
Dazai Osamu, you were as pleasant to deal with the first day as you were the last. That is not a compliment.
Miss Einzbern, of course you were going to end up killed if you didn't take anything seriously. --What's wrong with you? Thanks for the new hat, by the way.
