stops outside the kitchen. turns to face him. puts both her hands on his shoulders and looks him in the eye.]

[this place was bleeding like a day ago this boy doesn't need that drama in his life now too; INTO THE KITCHEN SHE GOES, and in a few moments she emerges with a glass of water and some paper towels, which are basically handkerchiefs]

This place is crazy, huh? Like, you spin any knob or lever around here and it's like, bam! Water for days!

[she means sinks]

[ graciously takes the glass of water and the paper towels, taking his glasses off before wiping the tears off his eyes with them. he turns to mae at that comment, staring a little to her left because he's fucking blind without them. ]

You mean sinks? [ there's still a large lump in his throat but at least he can still speak. ] You've never used one before?
