Day 6 - Final discussion before the second execution

[This morning, a video of Tycoon auto-plays on everyone's tablets. He is in a dimly lit room, and seems to be eating pudding out of a bicycle horn...? Whatever, the raccoons are weird.]

Today’s the day! Are you pumped up? Psyched out? Pissed off? Done in? Hehehehe!

Everybody better vote today for who you want to be PUNISHED! If you don't vote by the time the timer reaches zero, your vote will be randomized! Just like it now says in the rules!

I, Tycoon (only Tycoon), will still answer one question per person if you haven’t cashed yours in yet! Rule clarifications are free, by the way! Also, quit freaking out about the people who are off crying in their rooms or whatever! You already have all the alibis you need to solve the mystery!

No, you're right.

[he agrees!]

Which is why it's possible it isn't a case of a shared motive where two people are covering for each other. . . and why I'm-- [mmmmmmrgh] -- more suspicious of Niles.

. . . because maybe Corrin really did fall asleep. Maybe Niles really did find him, and take him back to his room. But Corrin doesn't know what Niles did during the period he was asleep, right? So he isn't lying about his actions on the night of the murder.

He just can't speak for the other's.

I'm not sure why that makes Niles more suspicious. By the same logic, maybe Niles is telling the truth about finding Corrin asleep in the hallway... but why was he in the hallway in the first place? What did he do before then? Was he even really asleep?

It's because any scenario where Corrin is the real killer would have to involve Niles lying about finding him in the hallway.

[. . .]

[OR. WELL. LET HIM RETHINK THAT]

Or so I thought, but maybe if Corrin was pretending to be asleep. . .

Mm. You could even imagine a scenario where he was trying to return to his room after the murder at the time, and ended up feigning sleep rather than be caught out.

[ Even with as much experience with it as he has by now, Shuichi still doesn't like theorizing like this, and his voice is slightly low and strained. ]
purrtagonist: before or after you go to hell? (Do you want to visit the blacksmith)

[Akira doesn't have the experience, but. he's keeping a calm demeanor, even though his own words come out slowly. thoughtfully]

You're right. In which case, we should probably ask if either of them are capable of proving their stories.

Yes. It would be helpful if someone else saw one of them at some point, but I don't know how likely that is.
purrtagonist: just because you died (You don’t get a refund)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2017-12-22 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't sound like it is. Otherwise, someone would've spoken up. Right?

I'm not sure we can assume everyone's acting rationally...
purrtagonist: (roll for sass)

. . . that's also a point. . .

[CAN'T DENY THAT TENSIONS ARE HIGH]

[ Or someone could be withholding information just to be obnoxious. Who knows. ]

It's also possible they aren't the only ones who didn't spend the whole night together... I didn't go find Maki right away, myself.
purrtagonist: (So what happens on a triple botch)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2017-12-22 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[IT IS A MYSTERY]

Yesterday, the raccoon stated that there were four people who didn't make "friends": the killer, the victim, and two others.

I think everyone else met the criteria for having a solid alibi, save for Sigma, Jack, Corrin and Niles.

Assuming everyone's being honest and forthcoming... But I suppose it's best to assume that for now.
purrtagonist: and suplex a deer (Can’t you just outrun)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2017-12-22 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I think so, otherwise we might get caught up in circles again.
