Why are people interested in a detective career? Of course my intention is not to demean your profession, but I'm curious what reasons a person would have to choose this career.

There are a number of reasons. Some are simply attracted to the power that comes with the badge. Others, like Furudo-san... well, you can't exactly call her one who is in the profession of being a detective, but they're interested in investigations, mysteries, the solving of puzzles. I have a touch of those inclinations as well, but I personally wanted to do justice. To bring in the "bad guys," as it were.

That's a rather noble goal. It's also rather telling that you have such laudable goals at such a young age -- a lot of people want to do good but not many manage to do it to such extent while they're at your age.

Well, I had a difficult childhood. I think it's only natural to want to see cruel people punished when one is surrounded by them.

That is natural, indeed. With some luck you will be able to achieve such thing -- you have managed to make progress on that regard, haven't you?

[At least she hopes so. She definitely can respect the sense of justice that leads one to seek justice, and looks lke Akechi is doing it through legal means in his job.
