It wouldn't have been fair for you to take the fall for him.

[fair or not, though. . . whether to do so would have been Corrin's choice. and it's clear to Akira that Corrin and Niles were, perhaps, a little more closer than he was led to believe]

Just like it wasn't very fair for us to suddenly consider you suspicious at the last moment, when you were already struggling with your friend's potential death.

[The small dragon lets out a soft growl that almost sounds more like a purr at the pat.

He stays still in case, because he'd rather not let the horns on his head poke the guy.

He... actually kind of did appreciate the gesture of admitting the last statement.]

I-It's alright. You did what you could and were only trying to protect people when you were trying to find who did this. [That Akira's intentions weren't bad. He can't say the same for people like Erika, Hiyori or Dazai but... ]

[Corrin's right about that. he had only been trying to reach the truth, to find the culprit responsible to avoid executing someone innocent. he digs his fingers into the skin behind Corrin's horns, like he would if he were scratching a cat behind the ears]

Yeah.

In the end, it doesn't feel like we actually managed to protect anyone, though.
