Day 7 - afternoon

[After the execution, there's... nothing. The raccoons exit the stage, and the rest of you are free to do the same. The only update on your tablet reads: "You've been good, so we're going to give you the rest of the day off!"]

But...he was still your father.

[doesn't she feel sad or upset about his loss? That she'll never get to see him again?]

Judgement. He died doing as his master wished...

[That's how it works right?]

But - don't you miss him? And if he hadn't stayed, he'd still be alive - and with you.

... Judgement...

[And she fidgets, looking around the room. Looking for something else to talk about. Why was he asking this? No one else had, not even Masazumi. There had been one guard who asked if they were to help but that was different.]

... But then the genesis project would have failed. And if I had abandoned my post to return and help, I would not have been able to recover the deadly sins armament from Tres Espana.

This was the best outcome possible.

No, it wasn't.

[He says it quietly, but firmly.]

Any outcome where you lose your family can't be considered the best outcome possible. Maybe it was unavoidable, but - you're still allowed to miss him, without thinking of your duty, because you're human, Futayo. You're not a warrior or some slave without a will.

[She tilts her head with a glare, or as close to a glare as she can do.]

We are at war. So far my father and his lord have been the only deaths. At the moment we are in the best position we could be politically. Even if we are still being chased.

Missing him would not help us. It is better to keep the others safe than worry about something that cannot be changed.

That -

[He cuts himself off with a harsh sigh, rubbing at his forehead.]

...Futayo. I know you probably come from a harsher world than mine, but...you're allowed to get mad or upset about his death. And sure, nothing will change, but...

[He trails off, looking downright miserable. God, he'd thought she had a hard time growing up, but...was she only raised as a warrior, and nothing else?]

...

[She's keeps up the glare, then dips her head and closes her eyes.]

What good would that do? I am better off trying to earn my master's forgiveness... Besides my father died without regrets, he did not leave a ghost. And according to the book here, he waited for the blast with Kazuno's soul.

[Because he could have gotten out. Gin had managed to get in and carry her husband out...]
