Day 17 - WHODUNNIT?

[It's that time again! The Great Detective has been killed, so put those little grey cells to work and find the culprit!]

[Most of the flooding has been stopped as well, though it's uncomfortably damp just about everywhere. Looks like the raccoons only half-assed their cleanup.]

[Speaking of half-assed, where's Tycoon? I mean, broken ones, sure, but has anybody seen him up and about? Looks like you guys might be flying blind this time around...]

[congrats on your machete]

There has to be some point to it all.
insurgeont: (And punching bears too.)

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. The raccoons get entertained by it.
purrtagonist: I have trust issues (These fake walls are why)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-01-20 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
[HE CAN'T. . . EVEN DENY THAT. . .]

They're about to be even more entertained, then.

Because I want to know what's behind that door.
insurgeont: (Geez man I'm sorry.)

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I also want to know. What do you have in mind?
purrtagonist: (Does a child count as a thrown weapon?)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-01-20 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
I know what I'm hoping for: an exit.

But what do I actually think it is? I don't know.

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
An exit would be ideal, but I was asking how you intend to open it.
purrtagonist: (is z-snapping considered a free action)

[ah]

Lockpicks.

[. . .]

Or. . . we could find the keys.
insurgeont: (These keywords won't be good.)

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ Lockpicking is sadly not one of Ulaz's ninja skills because Galra don't use the same kind of locks. ]

I do not expect we could find the keys. Not unless you have also found one of these.

[ Ulaz pulls out... a library card with his name on it in an obviously forged-by-the-raccoons signature. OK then. ]
purrtagonist: (The gargoyle takes a MASSIVE hit)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-01-20 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[it's one of Akira's but hey, he remembers the last time he broke into one of the locked rooms in this school]

[Akira arches a brow]

What's the library card for?

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It was part of the puzzles we solved last night. This is how we knew which book to find the key in.
purrtagonist: (A tavern is worth)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-01-20 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[aaaah. he sees!]

The other keys might be hidden in other places around the school. When all of this is over, we should take a look around.
insurgeont: (to make this account.)

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There's not going to be much of a point in looking once all of this is ov--

Oh, right, all of this as in figuring out who murdered Erika. That's a thing they're supposed to be doing. He guesses. I mean, knowledge or death and all but not all knowledge is worthwhile, you know???

Ok ok I guess they have to vote for someone and it might as well be the actual guilty party. ]

Then we should endeavor to solve this quickly. There is a lot of ground to cover.
purrtagonist: (Did I just kinkshame a dragon to death)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-01-20 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[VOTING FOR THE GUILTY PARTY IS BETTER THAN VOTING FOR SOMEONE INNOCENT, MAN]

[either way, being reminded of the trial causes Akira's expression to turn a bit more serious, a bit more somber]

Right. We've got a good track record so far, so I'm sure we'll figure it out.
insurgeont: (Not that they were ever going to be?)

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. The previous murders have all been crimes of opportunity, spurred on only by the motives given by the raccoons. [ Except for the Tsugumi and Dazai situation, but that was kind of exceptional in general, and this is clearly not another incident along those lines, so he won't mention that ] But we were not given a motive this time. Despite that, a murder occurred. It was likely motivated by a personal grudge.

...Unfortunately, that will not narrow down the pool of suspects very much.

[ He's sure not going to pretend like he didn't hate her. ]
purrtagonist: (i’m not drunk i’m just charismatic)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-01-20 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Akira bristles a bit at that, because despite most people disliking Erika, he actually kind of. . . liked her. . . or at least, felt for her]

She might not have been well-liked, but I can't imagine anyone here wanted to her dead for personal reasons. Unless there was something going on behind the scenes.

[personal profile] insurgeont 2018-01-20 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt I was the only one who took umbrage to her message blaming others for the death of Futayo. [ though other people would probably take umbrage for different reasons ] For some people, disliking a person is reason enough, unless humans and Galra are less alike than I thought. Though there could be other factors. She could have been viewed as a threat, or gained dangerous knowledge, or it could simply be that the killer understood she was disliked and thus the group as a whole would not be especially motivated to find her killer.
