... I have. I am in love now, as a matter of fact. It is... thrilling, exciting, joyful, in the best of moments. And it brings me to the depths of despair in the worst of moments.

[ She was almost on par with Akira in arm wrestling, that has to count for something. A noodle war. ]

If you put it like that... perhaps I am too. [ Her voice is quiet as she says that, eyes shifting over the fish in the aquarium as she tries to numb everything inside her again, tries to hold everything back. ] What happened to bring the despair?

Knowing that these few days we have together here may be the only time I have to spend with them at all. Even if all three of us should win the power to travel to other worlds at the end... this will be the last time we can all be together.

I see. [ Honestly, the "all three of us" doesn't even make her blink, because her own heart has been captured enough by two others as well. ] In your case-- [ Hinting that she has a similar dilemma. ] --why can you not travel together?

It's a complicated situation, but... essentially, the reason is that I could never find Sudoh if I went looking for him. He lives inside the body of another person, and his life essence is slowly being consumed by them--nevermind the fact that I would be looking for him in ancient China during the Mongol Wars.

[sighs deeply]

And that's only one issue, of several. Tatsuya cannot come to my world, because if he did, there is a very good chance it would lead to the end of the world. I fully intend to visit him, make no mistake of that, but it will be difficult to do so for any extended length of time. The risks the three of us would have to take... are just too much.

[ There's a sudden realisation of why Sudoh phrased it as "give him something to remember me by" when he spoke of making the guitar for Tatuya now. Though it doesn't make any of this any better. ]

Would it not be different if he went with you instead? Sudoh-san, I mean. You would not have to find him... and perhaps being in another world would slow or stop that process?

[ Tatsuya though, that's something else. She isn't sure if he means because it's linked to him or steps he takes to make it happen, but... she understands what it feels like to have someone feel like they're slipping away. So she asks something else instead. ]

...Did you tell them both how you feel?

Yes. Or... I think I was clear. Perhaps I was not. I'll have to tell them again, just in case.

[but regarding sudoh, he just shakes his head]

He refused. He says he has to fix something in the past. I would take him with me without a second thought otherwise. Both of them, really. But I can't ask them to give up their missions for my sake.

While we have the chance, should we not tell them over and over? It is unusual, actually. I was speaking to Sudoh-san about this just yesterday... about how whoever those chinchillas really may be, they did not regard our feelings at all.

I do not think he would wish to hurt you, yet... that is what happens when you care for someone unconditionally and they have such a burden to carry.

... yes, of course. You're right. I cannot waste any time not telling them how I feel for them. I want them to know that they are loved, before...!

[he cuts himself off, a little choked up]

[ It hurts seeing how much pain he's in with this, so she lets go of his hand for a moment. ]

You need not apologise, Yusuke. Here. [ Her arms open slightly then. ] If it is not too bold... would you like a hug?

[ This is what friends do when the other is sad, right? ]

[he looks a little stunned by her offer, his throat drying up. but he's had more hugs from people in these last few days than in his entire life]

If you do not mind, truly...

[tentatively, he reaches for her]

[ Same, tbh. It's easy to get caught up in the availability of it, but also she just wants to be able to support him in this as well. She said she'd cheer Tatsuya on, so now it can just be the both of them.

She curls her arms around him in a hug though, holding tight so he knows he isn't alone in this. ]

I wish things could be easier.

[he's bony but totally willing to engage in this, his arms wrapping around her shoulders warmly, resting his chin on her head. he takes in a shaky breath and lets it out]

... it is good to know that I am not alone in this. Thank you, Sonia.

[ He might be, but it isn't necessarily bad. She might need this just as much anyway, even if she's a lot less willing to open up about anything. ]

[ And she sure is willing to listen to him and support him, willing to take some of the burden, some of that pain, by hugging him... but sharing her own pain? Nah. How about she just doesn't acknowledge it at all. That sounds Great. ]

[ She freezes up at that, forcing a breath out because she'd hoped he'd been too caught up in his own circumstances to remember. ]

[ Hopefully this isn't oversharing and he already knew, but... ]

Rin told me that Akira, Ichigo and himself died there. I think... No, I know he's probably been blaming himself all this time for not being able to save them and I hope we [ "we" ] managed to console him. However, it is... not exactly something I could relate to. I came here to try and process it, I suppose.

Especially before I meet Akira later.

... yes. On top of everything else, they were all killed... I had not thought about it, but they must be reliving those moments here.

Rin told myself and Allen this morning... about what happened to him, Akira and Ichigo. I am... trying to prepare myself to face him but it is not easy. I do... not really know what to do.

Akira would not wish to be pitied, I think. But he would appreciate empathy and kindness, two things you seem to excel at, in my opinion.

He might also appreciate a hug.
