Day 6 - Final discussion before the second execution

[This morning, a video of Tycoon auto-plays on everyone's tablets. He is in a dimly lit room, and seems to be eating pudding out of a bicycle horn...? Whatever, the raccoons are weird.]

Today’s the day! Are you pumped up? Psyched out? Pissed off? Done in? Hehehehe!

Everybody better vote today for who you want to be PUNISHED! If you don't vote by the time the timer reaches zero, your vote will be randomized! Just like it now says in the rules!

I, Tycoon (only Tycoon), will still answer one question per person if you haven’t cashed yours in yet! Rule clarifications are free, by the way! Also, quit freaking out about the people who are off crying in their rooms or whatever! You already have all the alibis you need to solve the mystery!

Vote! It says midnight Friday, but it's technically midnight Saturday. 11:59 Friday, WHATEVER.))

You've already conceded you have no proof. No evidence. No reasoning. No nothing. May I make a suggestion? Put up or shut up. The mystery is already stupid enough that a clue, of unknown origin, in the form of an anagram is the most we've had to go on, the idle musings of a man whose greatest contribution to the murder case so far has been the idea to check the corpse's mouth for dicks has no room for questioning the detective's objectivity.

Either put down the peanuts and join the conversation or get out of the way, you so-called "Mafioso Detective."

I didn't say I had no reasoning. I just said I had no proof. And the only evidence I have is Niles-san's own words and the profile information, which isn't much, admittedly.

But it's certainly a bit more than "Tapioca Honk is an anagram for Captain Hook"--though I do know Akira-kun was doing his best with what he had, but that's absolutely no reason to say it's solid evidence. Your evidence is the same as mine: the alibis don't add up. And we know to focus on the alibis because I asked the raccoons which clue would be the most relevant to solve this crime.

So do tell me that I haven't participated in this investigation, Detective. I'd certainly love to hear what role you've played aside from suspiciously duct taping people's rooms shut at night.

Reasoning comes from evidence. If you have no proof, no clues to base your theory off of, you have no reasoning!

My investigation continues. Furthermore, we're surrounded by idiots who help those without valid alibis concoct fake ones.

I already presented my evidence that I'm basing my reasoning on. And I've said it's not solid evidence and that I have no proof. Lacking proof isn't lacking evidence, it's lacking non-coincidental, non-circumstantial evidence.

The fact that I had to correct you on fingerprinting in this place says enough that you clearly have no idea the difference between "evidence" and "proof".

I found smoke, but I don't have the smoking gun.

Meanwhile, all you've found is wafts of rotten eggs.

You presented nothing, other than one line in the stupid profiles and speculation! "Maybe a dragon did it..." give me a break!

And don't you lecture me about fingerprints! You're the one who put his all over the door of the crime scene!

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2017-12-23 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
There were already fingerprints from every person in this place because we've all been wandering around and touching things--in other words: fingerprinting in this place is next to useless.

And connecting testimony from the accused to a single line in a profile is still evidence. Circumstantial, yes. But that's still better than your nonsense.

It's still something. You're like all the others who keep saying "the raccoons are magic, therefore your duct tape is useless." Some of us aren't content to sit on our asses and convince ourselves we're being 'smart' by avoiding real detective work, Dazai-saaaaaaan!

No it isn't! It's speculation, at best! You haven't even disproved the value of the anagram clue!

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2017-12-23 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Process of elimination is work, Furudo-saaaaaan! Think smarter, not harder!

And I already did: we don't know it's an anagram. Akira-kun went with that option because it was the only thing he could think of to make sense of it. But that does not make it an anagram!

Don't imitate me, Dazai-san. It is, in a word, disgusting.

You're right. We don't. But it was Kurusu-san's answer, and he was confident enough to stand by it. Will you deny his reasoning?

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2017-12-23 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a very disgusting thing to imitate, I agree.

And naturally I will deny his reasoning, because even during his presentation of his reasoning, he admitted that it wasn't much to go on and it was just something that made sense when nothing else managed to. In other words: it's an uncertain reasoning.

So treating it like definitive proof is your folly, not his.
