But I think it's flawed reasoning to assume the people who had the other party confirm their alibis are innocent. Especially when you consider it's likely our killer had an accomplice.

No, you are going about this all wrong.

You can't gather the suspects without alibis and put them together and confront them as a group. You have to individually isolate them and approach them one-by-one. If you don't do that, they're all going to just claim they're each other's alibis and patch up all the holes in their testimony together.

I mean, really, this is detective-skills 101 here.
